The cast of the popular television series Ted Lasso recently visited the White House, making headlines and delighting fans nationwide. This feel-good comedy has captured the hearts of millions with its heartwarming storylines, quirky humor, and unforgettable characters. The cast members toured the historic building during their visit and met with key political figures.

The group was led by Jason Sudeikis, who stars as Ted Lasso himself - a small-time American football coach hired to manage an English soccer team despite having no knowledge of or experience in soccer. Other notable attendees included Hannah Waddingham, who portrays team owner Rebecca Welton and Brett Goldstein, who plays football star Roy Kent.

During their visit, they discussed mental health awareness – a topic that holds special significance to fans and creators of "Ted Lasso." Throughout its two-season run so far, the show has been applauded for tackling themes like empathy, vulnerability, depression, anxiety, and personal growth with nuance and sensitivity.

The cast joined Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during the White House Press Briefing. Jason Sudeikis spoke about the challenges of mental health and the importance of talking about it and checking in on loved ones. Sudeikis stated, “No matter who you are, no matter where you live, no matter who you voted for, we all probably, I assume, we all know someone who has, or have been that someone ourselves actually, that’s struggled, that’s felt isolated, that’s felt anxious, that has felt alone." He added that mental health should not be a partisan issue. He said, "I know in this town a lot of folks don’t always agree, right, and don’t always feel heard, seen, listened to. But I truly believe we should all do our best to help take care of each other.

Sudeikis ended his speech in a cheeky way that is sure to make fans happy by taking a question from Trent Crimm.

The visit provided a significant opportunity for the cast to use their platform to promote awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. In addition, their discussions with policymakers and officials can contribute to positive change and inspire others to join the cause. 

The Biden Administration used the visit to promote President Biden's Unity plan—all of the president's social media sites posted about the meeting. Further, the visit helps cement President Biden as a proud advocate of mental health and makes Biden look hip and in touch with the youth as he is potentially seeking reelection.
